Elizabeth Li, DPT

After ending her undergraduate career in CUNY Hunter with a Bachelors in Biochemistry, Elizabeth Li, DPT graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and a Bachelors in Health Science cum laude in from SUNY Downstate in May 2018. During her time at Downstate she completed a Capstone Project on tracking NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) and Sedentary Behavior in a Workplace Environment. She had internships at Downstate Hospital, Brooklyn Hospital, a private practice, and with the Department of Education that gave her foundation for working with a diverse population from pediatric to geriatric patients with mild to severe conditions.

She has experience in outpatient setting treating patients with various orthopedic and neuromuscular impairments such as osteoarthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, impingement syndrome, post-fall rehabilitation, post-operative rehabilitation and more. Her treatment philosophy is exercise based with emphasis on patient education. She takes pride in her ability for incorporation of manual techniques to correct muscular imbalances and encourage normal movement patterns to improve patient’s participation in daily activities and enhance quality of life.

Her most recent passion has been helping patients with balance training and prevention of falls. She has taken continuing education courses such as Balance Domain series by Andrea Ecsedy, PT, DPT, NCS, Interventions for Neurological Diagnoses: Balance by Kay Wing, PT, DPT, NCS and actively uses continuing education courses offered through Medbridge.

Elizabeth’s skills and practice as a physical therapist have flourished since she began working in a facility that offers a full hour of one-on-one sessions. She is able to utilize the hour that she spends with her patients listening, examining, and executing goals that she and her patient cooperatively design. Outside the clinic, you can find her performing resistive training in the gym as a retired weight lifter or jogging outside as new runner. Otherwise, she’s at home living with her 70 year old roommate.
